Procurement Officers from all districts of Rwanda have started a 7-day Training Session on Contract Management at RMI - Murambi.

The training is taking place under the Memorandum of Understanding between Rwanda Development Board and Rwanda Management Institute for the implementation of capacity building activities under Rwanda Quality Basic Education for Human Capital Development Project.

In his welcoming remarks, on behalf of RMI Director General, Mr. NSHIMYUMUREMYI Vincent de Paul, the Principal Senior Training Coordinator welcomed the trainees and wished them a very successful training.

“Train hard and train smart, so that when you are done, you will be ready for any challenge that comes your way. I argue you to wisely and effectively use this time to learn and exchange knowledge for you to take the noble procurement profession to a higher level and ensure total compliance with laws and regulations. Here you will get the hands-on skills required to be ready to take on anything, value for money is our ultimate goal”. he urged the trainees.

Mr. Mbaranga Eudence Gervas, the trainer of the course, said that staff should train continuously as capacity building in public institutions is concerned.

“As the law of procurement has changed last year, procurement officers should be conversant with the new law, as well as routine job as some are new in procurement positions. They will be conversant on how to manage contracts according to the new law”, said Mr. Mbaranga.

Rwanda has put in place, the National Capacity Development Policy, Strategy and Implementation Plan approved by Cabinet in 2016 which provides the framework and act as the main reference for guiding capacity development interventions in Rwanda and this training program for civil servants is one of the measures to comply with the NST1 program established by the government.

RMI has the mandate of conducting the capacity building interventions, recruitment of personnel, research projects, consultancy, and relevant policy advisory services to civil and private institutions in Rwanda.
