RMI LAUNCHES INVENTORY MANAGEMENT AND IPSAS ACCRUAL TRAINING FOR NATIONAL PUBLIC PROSECUTION AUTHORITY STAFF.
On 16/12/2025, The Rwanda Management Institute (RMI) officially launched an Inventory Management and Public Asset Lifecycle Management Training for sixteen staff members from the National Public Prosecution Authority (NPPA). The training forms part of Rwanda’s ongoing implementation journey towards International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) accrual, with a strong focus on improving transparency, accountability, and value for money in public financial management.
The program is designed to strengthen participants’ capacity in managing public inventories and assets in line with international standards, while supporting effective service delivery across public institutions.
The training places particular emphasis on IPSAS accrual accounting, a key reform in Rwanda’s public financial management framework. By adopting IPSAS accrual, public institutions are better positioned to present a complete and accurate picture of government assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses.
Through this training, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how sound inventory and asset management contributes to enhanced financial reporting, improved decision-making, and stronger public accountability.
The training includes: Planned based on institutional needs and budget priorities, Acquired in compliance with procurement and financial regulations, Utilized efficiently to support service delivery, Maintained to extend asset life and reduce replacement costs, and Disposed of responsibly and transparently at the end of their useful life.
The Principal Senior Training Coordinator at RMI noted that the program was tailored to address both operational and accounting requirements within public institutions.
“This training integrates inventory management practices with IPSAS accrual requirements. Our goal is to ensure that participants not only understand how to manage assets throughout their lifecycle, but also how to account for them correctly in compliance with international public sector accounting standards,” he explained.
The facilitator emphasized the practical benefits of the training.
“Participants will gain improved knowledge of asset management and the correct accounting treatment of public assets under IPSAS. This will enable them to strengthen controls, improve reporting accuracy, and support audit readiness within the National Public Prosecution Authority,” the facilitator said.
RMI is mandated to ensure training in Administration and Management disciplines for public service, private sector, and civil society organizations personnel. RMI also offers Leadership and Management Development training as well as Advisory Services, and Research and Consultancy services.
