FIVE STAFF FROM MMI CONCLUDE PERSONAL ASSISTANT AND SECRETARY OFFICE TRAINING AT RMI MURAMBI CAMPUS
On 27 June 2025, Five staff from MMI (Military Medical Insurance) concluded training of Personal Assistant and Secretary Office training which focused on developing the skills and knowledge needed to provide comprehensive administrative, secretarial, and organizational support to executives and other professionals at Rwanda Management Institute (RMI) at Muhima Campus.
Key areas include time management, communication, event management, and understanding the importance of confidentiality and discretion.
The module was composed of: the role and responsibilities, Communication skills, Time and Task management, Office management, Technology and tools, Professional image and behavior, Travel and event coordination, confidentiality and security required for the Assistant and secretary.
In his closing remarks, the Acting Director General of RMI, Mr. Gatari Eugene commended the existing partnership between RMI and MMI and urged the trainees to use the knowledge gained for the benefit of the organization they represent.
“We thank you for your continued partnership, sincerity and good relations. You did not come here to seek knowledge, but to strengthen it so that you can be resilient. Applying the lessons you have learned to your daily work will ensure that it was worth it”, Gatari said.
One of the trainees said that they learned a lot in terms of Personal Assistant and Secretary Office responsibilities.
“The lessons we have been learning have helped us to better understand our responsibilities. Now we can do it well, on time. As an insurance company, we now know how to welcome our clients well, respond to their requests without breaking the company's rules and do it on time. We have also learned to do more than one job in a short time and keep them for a long time. Now there is no more delay in processing people's files or losing them.”, Kabatesi said.
According to the trainer, as technology evolves in today life, employees as well must keep up with the times by learning how to use the latest technologies as things change daily. For example, personal secretaries need to know how to file documents in a modern way so that they can access their documents wherever they are using google docs.
RMI being a Public Capacity Development Institution and Training Center has different training programs for which it provides; Management Career Centered Courses, Certified Professional Courses, and Tailor-Made Courses to respond to specific skills gaps identified in individual institutions and Executive and Leadership Courses for high-profile leaders and managers.
