MMI STAFF CONCLUDE TRAINING ON GOVERNANCE, RISK MANAGEMENT, AND COMPLIANCE AT RMI
On 11 July 2025, Nine staff members of the Medical and Military Insurance (MMI) completed an intensive training program at the Rwanda Management Institute (RMI), focusing on critical areas such as governance, risk identification and management, compliance with legal frameworks, audit processes, and human resource management.
The training, which also included analysis of real case studies encountered by MMI in their daily operations, was praised by participants as highly practical and relevant.
In his closing remarks, the Principal Training Coordinator, Mr. Vincent de Paul Habumuremyi, on behalf of the Director General of RMI, applauded the active participation of MMI staff and highlighted the importance of such targeted training programs.
“Strengthening institutional governance and risk oversight is crucial to improving public sector performance,” he said. “RMI is proud to support MMI in building internal capacity to audit, manage risk, and develop strategies that deliver real impact to their beneficiaries”, Habumuremyi added.
The trainer emphasized that the training was focused on hands-on nature.
“We combined theory with real-world audit scenarios tailored to MMI’s operations,” she explained. “Participants are now better equipped to conduct internal audits and identify gaps that could hinder the achievement of their institutional goals.”
MMI staff were happy and expressed satisfaction with the quality and relevance of the training.
“ The knowledge we have acquired will be applied in our daily work. Where we made mistakes, we will correct them; where we did little, we will now act with professionalism, leaving nothing undone. This commitment will not only strengthen our institution but also contribute to the development of our country", One of the staff said.
MMI’s participation reflects a proactive move toward institutional reform and internal systems strengthening. As the medical insurance arm serving Rwanda’s military personnel, MMI operates in a highly sensitive and critical space—making the need for sound governance and risk oversight even more urgent.
