RMI LAUNCHES SPORTS MANAGEMENT AND SPORTS LAWS TRAINING FOR MINISTRY OF DEFENSE STAFF
On 12th January 2026, the Rwanda Management Institute (RMI) officially launched a Sports Management and Sports Laws training at Murambi Campus. The training brings together twenty-two (22) participants from the Ministry of Defense (MINADEF) and will run until 18th January 2026.
The program forms part of RMI’s continued efforts to support institutional capacity building by equipping public sector professionals with specialized knowledge and skills aligned with national priorities. The training focuses on strengthening governance, professionalism, and legal compliance in the management of sports activities within public institutions.
Designed to address both managerial and legal dimensions of sports administration, the program aims to enhance participants’ understanding of effective sports management systems, regulatory frameworks, and applicable sports laws. This approach is intended to support improved organization, discipline, and accountability in sports-related activities within MINADEF.
The twenty-two participants attending the training are managers across all disciplines of sports within the Ministry of Defense, responsible for overseeing and coordinating various sports programs and activities. Their participation ensures that the knowledge and skills acquired will directly support the effective planning, leadership, and regulation of sports initiatives within the institution.
Through this training, participants will gain practical knowledge on key aspects of sports management, including planning and organization of sports programs, leadership in sports institutions, ethics and integrity in sports, and compliance with national and international sports laws and regulations.
The training also emphasizes the importance of understanding legal frameworks governing sports, including dispute resolution mechanisms, contractual obligations, and regulatory compliance. By strengthening these competencies, participants are better positioned to manage sports programs effectively while minimizing legal risks.
The Principal Senior Training Coordinator, Mr. Vincent NSHIMYUMUREMYI noted that the training was carefully tailored to respond to the specific needs of the institution.
“This training integrates practical sports management principles with an understanding of sports laws. Our objective is to ensure that participants are well equipped to manage sports activities professionally while operating within the established legal and regulatory frameworks,” he explained.
The facilitator highlighted the practical and institutional benefits of the program.
“Participants will acquire practical skills in sports administration and a clear understanding of the legal aspects governing sports activities. This will enable them to strengthen organization, compliance, and accountability in sports programs within the Ministry of Defense,” the facilitator said.
Rwanda Management Institute is mandated to provide training in Administration and Management disciplines for public service, private sector, and civil society organizations. RMI also offers Leadership and Management Development programs, as well as Advisory Services, Research, and Consultancy—contributing to the continuous development of competent and ethical professionals across sectors.
