RMI STAFF CONCLUDE TRAINING ON THE STANDARD ISO 19011
On 30 January 2024, RMI staff concluded a three-day training on the Standard ISO 19011 which was delivered by Rwanda Standards Board, to equip RMI staff with the necessary skills to perform management system audits effectively. This will help RMI staff to audit their own systems in line with fulfilling the customer satisfaction requirements at RMI Murambi Campus.
The standard outlines guidelines for auditing management systems, and the knowledge and skills required to effectively conduct management system audits
The training includes; introduction to ISO 19011, principles and types of audit, competence and personal behavior of auditors, evaluation of auditors, managing audit program, and performing an audit.
In her closing remarks, the Director General Dr MULINDAHABI Charline, as a trainee, urged each and every staff to be part of the audit processes for RMI in order for them to improve the quality of services.
“All of us have gone through the standards; 9001and 19011 and we are all aspiring to become professional auditors. This will require the participation of all of us”. “This standard once you internalize it, will develop not only the country but will do for RMI and at individual level”, she said.
The RMI Senior Quality Assurance Officer said that this training was delivered to RMI staff to acquaint them with the necessary knowledge and skills for all of them to have ownership of the processes of services delivered by RMI to its clients.
“By now, all staff have the required knowledge and skills which will help them develop their own processes of how they contribute to the mandate of RMI”. “Now. RMI have a pool of auditors whom we will use in the audits exercises”, he confirmed.
The trainer said that; “ This training, when there is no follow up of what you have learned, it will be a waste of time. You need to put things into practice and we appreciated the commitment you had during the training. We are still available where need be, to provide any support”, he emphasized.
Auditing is the on-site verification activity, such as inspection or examination, of a process or quality system, to ensure compliance to requirements. An audit can be applied to an entire organization or might be specific to a function, process, or production step.
RMI is the public institution that strengthens and promotes a private-sector driven and knowledge-based economy through building Public-Private Partnerships to realize the National Strategy for Transformation (NST1) and Vision 2050 targets and it has the mandate of conducting the capacity building interventions, recruitment of personnel, research projects, consultancy, and relevant policy advisory services to civil and private institutions in Rwanda.
