RWANDA MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE EMPLOYEES HAD THEIR HEALTH ASSESSED TO ADDRESS HEALTH ISSUES AT THE WORKPLACE.
On 26 March 2025, Rwanda Management Institute employees have had a general check up of their health status where by they were assisted by the Muhanga Health Center workers led by Mukandayisenga Donata, the titular of the Muhanga Health Center to make sure that all employees have good health which will create a safe and healthy work environment where risks are eliminated or reduced to acceptable levels.
Ministerial Order n° 02/MIFOTRA/23 of 01/08/2023 states that an employer has to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of an employee, an intern, or an apprentice at the workplace.
It is this line that a general check-up for workers, often called a medical or occupational health check, assesses an individual's health to ensure they are fit for the job and to promote a safe and healthy workplace.
Mukandayisenga Donata, the titular of the Muhanga Health Center, said that the law in Rwanda requires every Rwandan to get tested at least once a year in order for her or him to know the status of her or his health.
The diseases treated include; diabetes, hypertension, hepatitis B and C, and Body Mass Index.
The employees were advised to do regular physical exercises and consume a lot of water to ensure their health is maintained.
The benefit of testing the status of health; it can lead to business continuity, reduced absenteeism, and increased productivity.
