RWANDA MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE LAUNCHES TRAINING ON WORLD BANK PROCUREMENT REGULATIONS

On 28 July 28, 2025, The Rwanda Management Institute (RMI) officially launched a Training Workshop on Procurement for World Bank Regulations at Murambi Campus. The eight-day workshop brings together 16 experts in procurement from the Ministry of Education (MINEDUC) and affiliated agencies, with the objective of strengthening institutional capacity in managing procurement at international level.

The opening ceremony was graced by senior officials from RMI, and representative from MIFOTRA.

The workshop, scheduled to run until August 4, 2025, will focus on equipping participants with a solid understanding of the World Bank Procurement Framework (WBPF), including regulations, contract management, and steps of procurement cycle.

In his opening remarks, the Principal Senior Training Coordinator, Nshimyimuremyi Vincent de Paul, on behalf of the Director General of RMI, highlighted the strategic importance of the training in public institutions.

“Procurement is at the heart of public service delivery. When it is done right, it accelerates development and builds trust in institutions. This training aligns with our mission to empower public servants with the knowledge and tools they need to uphold integrity and deliver results,” said Mr. Nshimyumuremyi.

“We are proud to support MINEDUC and its agencies in this initiative. This is part of a broader strategy to ensure that Rwanda’s public procurement systems meet global expectations and serve citizens effectively,” he added.

The lead facilitator, a certified World Bank procurement specialist, outlined the workshop's approach and expectations.

“This is a participatory and practical training. Our goal is to ensure that each participant leaves not only with theoretical knowledge but also with the capacity to apply procurement procedures confidently in their daily work, especially in World Bank Procurement Regulations” he noted.

Participants will engage in group exercises, real-world case studies, and scenario-based simulations to ensure practical understanding of complex procurement procedures according to the World Bank procedures.

The training is expected to produce empowered procurement leaders who will champion transparency and best practices within their institutions. Participants expressed their enthusiasm and that they are eager to learn more.
