RWANDA MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE (RMI) SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDES HIGH-IMPACT TRAINING ON MONITORING & EVALUATION METHODOLOGIES
On 26 February 2026, the Rwanda Management Institute (RMI) successfully concluded a four-day intensive training on Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Methodologies for 18 participants drawn from central and local government institutions and parastatals in Musanze.
Organized in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, the training aimed at strengthening institutional performance through practical, results-oriented M&E approaches that directly enhance accountability, efficiency, and service delivery. The program combined theory with hands-on application, equipping participants with robust methodologies such as Results-Based Management (RBM), Logical Framework (LogFrame) development, and Theory of Change design. Emphasis was placed on developing SMART performance indicators, establishing baselines and targets, conducting Data Quality Assessments (DQA), and strengthening evidence-based planning and reporting systems. Participants were introduced to practical tools including Indicator Performance Tracking Tables (IPTTs), structured data collection instruments such as surveys and interview guides, digital project tracking systems, data analysis techniques for both quantitative and qualitative data, and results-oriented reporting dashboards. Through case studies, group exercises, and real-project simulations, participants applied these tools to their institutional contexts, ensuring the training translated into actionable skills.
Representing the Director General of RMI, the Principal Senior Training Coordinator Mr. Vincent de Paul Nshimyumuremyi commended participants for their active engagement and emphasized that the knowledge and practical skills acquired should result in measurable improvements within their institutions, noting that effective monitoring and evaluation are critical pillars for achieving sustainable project results and delivering value to citizens. In addition, the lead Trainer Mr. Paul Gakumba underscored that the methodologies shared will strengthen project progress tracking, improve performance reporting, and support more effective and efficient planning across public institutions.
Participants expressed appreciation for the practical and impact-driven nature of the training, highlighting that the tools and frameworks gained will enable them to better align projects with national development priorities while reinforcing transparency and accountability.
Through this initiative, RMI continues to advance its mandate of building sustainable capacity in both the public and private sectors through high-quality professional training, research, and consultancy services.
