TRAINING WORKSHOP IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONAL (PMP) FOR ALL RQBE PROJECT IMPLEMENTING ENTITIES AT RMI.

On, 22 September 2025, Rwanda Management Institute (RMI) has commenced a six-day Training Workshop in Project Management Professional (PMP) for fifteen (15) candidates drawn from all implementing entities of the Rwanda Quality Basic Education for Human Capital Development Project (RQBEP). The training is scheduled from 22nd to 27th September 2025 at RMI Muhanga Campus.

This training workshop is conducted within the framework of existing partnerships and collaboration agreements between signed between the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and Rwanda Management Institute (RMI) in April 2023, in which both parties committed to working together on capacity-building interventions, personnel recruitment, research, consultancy, and policy advisory services.

Similarly, reference is made to the signed Partnership Agreement between the Ministry of Public Service and Labour (MIFOTRA) and the Ministry of Education (MINEDUC) for the implementation of capacity-building activities under RQBEP.

Speaking at the official opening, Mr. Nshimyumuremyi Vincent de Paul, Principal Senior Training Coordinator at RMI, on behalf of the Director General of RMI, emphasized the strategic importance of this initiative:

“At RMI, we believe that capacity building is central to Rwanda’s human capital development agenda. This PMP training is designed not only to strengthen the project management skills of the participants but also to ensure that RQBEP achieves its goals efficiently and sustainably.”

Mr. Amos Mfitundinda, Head of the Department of Strategic Capacity Development / Chief Skills Office in MIFOTRA, reminded participants of the importance of continuous learning and professional upgrading:

“You have come here to reskill and upskill so you can do much better. Gukotra amahugurwa ajyanye n’ibyo ukora ni akarusho. It is disappointing to work on a project only to end up calling it a failed report due to lack of knowledge. Projects are peculiar compared to other work, because they demand tact beyond the ordinary. Projects are not ordinary business.”

The trainer, [Insert Name], underlined the significance of the course in today’s professional environment:

“Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is internationally recognized as a standard in project management. By equipping these candidates with PMP skills, we will empower them to manage projects with professionalism, precision, and impact.”

Representing the trainees, [Insert Name], expressed appreciation for the initiative:

“We are grateful to RMI, MINEDUC, and partners for providing us this opportunity. The knowledge and skills we will get here, will directly contribute to the success of the RQBEP project, and ultimately, to improving the quality of basic education in Rwanda.”

This PMP training is one of the practical milestones in realizing the objectives of these frameworks, ensuring that professionals working on the RQBEP project are well-equipped with the necessary skills to deliver effectively.

The training workshop reaffirms RMI’s commitment to serving as a center of excellence in capacity development, policy research, and advisory services for Rwanda and beyond. Through such initiatives, the Institute continues to align with the Government of Rwanda’s vision of building a skilled, knowledgeable, and competitive workforce.
