WHAT ARE RMI ALUMNI DOING

RWANDA MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE ALUMNI UPDATES

Rwanda Management Institute (RMI) Research and Consultancy(R&C) Unit team recently conducted a capacity needs and gaps assessment of its clients to inform its programs in training, advisory services, consultancy, ICT, e-learning and business development. Part of the feedback was that RMI should build its Alumni database and involve them more in future planning and programming of its activities.

As a follow-up to this recommendation, the Unit has started compiling data on its alumni and has thus far generated information on the programs attended, current institutions and employment sectors.

Generating and sharing such information is purposed to:

  1. Involve alums into our current and future programs because they are an important part of RMI family which can contribute to the institution through different professional ways.
  2. Engage some of them to support RMI research and continuous professional development (CPD) programs.
  3. Generate advice from their experiences, expertize and professional networks.
  4. Bring them on board to use their current positions and institutions to contribute to RMI positive international public profile.
  5. Involve them in participating as guest speakers, panelists, and presenters during RMI-organized public talks, open days, workshops and related events on issues of national public policy development.

WHERE ARE RMI PROGRAMS ALUMNI?

RMI Alumni are located all over the world and have made contributions in government, private sector and civil society.  Some have gone on to work in Banking, International organizations, defense, judiciary, legislature and diplomatic services.

As a starting point, we checked with our database and consulted RMI alums through email and telephone to ascertain their current location. We looked at gender composition and current sectors of employment. We started with the following programs and the charts that follow summarize where they are as of January 2018:
